Q&A with Jon
What is the #1 mistake people make when selling their website?
Lack of preparation. A lot of entrepreneurs wait until they burn out to start thinking about exiting. If they prepare ahead of time, they can get the exit they want on their terms.
What drew you to make your career online?
I read the book “Getting Real” by Basecamp and was captivated by the idea of building software businesses differently. Basecamp rejected the notion that you needed to raise outside capital to build a profitable business that served your goals.
Did you always know that you were going to be an entrepreneur?
No, I thought I was going to be a musician.
What is the greatest benefit of helping people sell their online businesses?
The best benefit is helping founders succeed. There’s no better feeling than assisting entrepreneurs on their journey.
If you could have just one superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation. Be anywhere, instantly.
What is the best bit of advice you have ever received?
Start with the end in mind.
If you could have dinner with just one person (they don’t have to be living still), who would it be?
My dad got cancer and wasn’t able to speak for the last year of his life. I would love to have dinner with him and share how grateful I am for his love.
