Q&A With Pat

What is the #1 mistake people make when selling their website?

Not having good financials.

What drew you to make your career online?

My background was mall retail until the early 2000s, but I loved the challenge of reaching all types of customers all around the world.

Did you always know that you were going to be an entrepreneur?

Yes, from day 1.  I started my first business just a few months after graduating from college and getting married to my wife of over 30 years.

What is the greatest benefit of helping people sell their online businesses?

I love hearing them remember how it started, what was great, what hurt.  In the end it takes you through their ride in a way.  Amazing stuff.

If you could have just one superpower, what would it be?

See the future (maybe, lol)

What is the best bit of advice you ever received?

“Pat, remember this, you are going from a meal ticket to a soup line” – Joe Peden when I left my job to start my first business.

If you could have dinner with just one person (they don’t have to be living still), who would it be?

Too many to name just one.

Testimonials

I would like start by saying that while the whole process was bumpy at times at no point did I feel pressured to make any decisions. This was huge for me because it was a major event of my life not only financially, but also personally. Pat made the entire process painless. He was understanding and accommodating, participated in a countless number of calls, even if it was not directly related to his function as a broker. He was just a great partner throughout the whole process and I am extremely happy that I decided to go with him as my broker. Really appreciate all your help, Pat. Truly a 5 star professional. Highly recommended!

“I wanted to personally thank you for your services in selling this business for my brother. You were the only brokerage firm that was willing to take a chance on us. Without you I would have a small nest egg to get through healing from my medical condition.

My heart’s desire and burden was to make sure that the business we worked so hard to create would continue & we would be rewarded financially for all the blood, sweat & tears put into it. Thank you again.”

“We compared Quiet Light with other firms and platforms out there and after talking with the guys at Quiet Light we immediately clicked. As first-timers selling an ecomm business, it was important for us to work with someone who’s patient and understanding, and with Pat we felt like he truly got us and was willing to accommodate all of our questions and concerns with much patience.

From the very first interaction and throughout the entire process, till we eventually signed a deal to sell our brand, they were always transparent, available, putting their best effort and making us feel like we’re their only clients although we know they have many others with larger businesses and deals.

Our company has other online businesses, and if we ever consider selling them we know exactly who’ll be representing us, we won’t settle for less.

Thank you Pat for making this process much more bearable for us.”

“When I was deciding to sell my business, it was like jumping into the deepside of the pool without any swimming experience. My first call with Pat was like him throwing a lifesaver while explaining the entire process. I was planning to originally sell asap, but decided to follow his recommendation to take time to wait a few months and optimize my business value. Sure glad I did, because it ended up increasing my valuation by a third.

Pat doesn’t beat around the bush and is exactly the kind of person you want in your corner when setting up calls with buyers. There is a time to play nice, but it is not when making the largest asset sale of my life.

As a seller, it was hard enough to focus on preparing a business for sale, let alone negotiating, marketing, and contacting buyers. Pat was more than able to get the job done and the result I needed.”
